This glossary defines the terms used across EORI Registry in a consistent and neutral style. When a term has legal nuance, the Sources page lists authoritative references.

| EORI | Economic Operators Registration and Identification number used to identify operators in customs-related interactions. |
| Economic operator | A person or business acting in the course of their activity in matters covered by customs legislation. |
| Declarant | The person lodging a customs declaration, whether acting for themselves or for another party. |
| Importer of record | The party responsible for import compliance in the destination territory, including duties and regulatory controls. |
| Direct representation | Representative acts in the name and on behalf of the principal in customs formalities, subject to national rules. |
| Indirect representation | Representative acts in their own name but on behalf of the principal, with liability implications depending on rules. |
| Release | Customs decision allowing goods to move into a procedure, including release for free circulation when applicable. |
| HS code | Harmonized System commodity classification used to determine duties and controls. |
